While Zagreb has been bathing in the fog for the past 2 weeks, we went to Medvednica last weekend. There was a gathering of my wife’s family and we went for a lunch to Gorščica. The first thing that delighted us was the sun – as we were climbing up, the fog disappeared and the sun began to emerge.
There’s a nice wooden cottage where hikers gather there. Even though it’s really beautiful, it’s much less crowded than the Sljeme peak (the highest peak of Medvednica). We saw maybe 10 people alltogether in a few hours we spent there. There’s even a small chapel.
A nice family privately runs this hiker’s shelter and they made a lunch for the 20 of us. The cottage is surrounded by woods and there’s a nearby house made from hay you can rent and sleep in.
And, of course, there’s a beautiful nature all around.
